After resigning from Rajya Sabha in 1972, Yajeeji dedicated his whole life for betterment of freedom fighters. He worked tirelessly for welfare of freedom fighters and their successors till his last breath. This made him Mahatma Gandhi of Freedom Fighters. He was moving force throughout the nation to achieve regular pension and other facilities for freedom fighters.

Under his leadership, country’s noted freedom fighters forced the than Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to address plights of freedom fighters.Acting on Yajee Ji's advice, Indira Gandhi has announced a pension scheme for freedom fighters on the eve of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of Independence Day on 15th August, 1972.

On the suggestion of the than Prime Minister ,Indira Gandhi, all four All India Freedom Fighters Associations were merged at a special conference held on 12th and 13th December 1978 at Bangalore and All India Freedom Fighters Organisation (AIFFO) constituted.

Yajeeji was one of the founding figures of organisation. He was elected Working President of AIFFO and remained on this top post of organisation till his death. He made one room office of organisation at 7, Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, his residence, this shows his commitment for freedom fighters and unlimited dedication for their cause.
