He was born on 22-03-1906 at Bakhtiyarpur Village in Patna district, Bihar. He was educated in Middle English School, Bakhtiyarpur, Barh English High School and B.N. College, Patna. In 1921, he gave up his brilliant college life and joined Non-cooperation movement. This was starting of public life of a great freedom fighter, the key events in his life as follow

In 1921, he joined Non-Cooperation Movement in the tender age of fifteen and participated in picketing of foreign cloth shop and liquor shop.

In 1922, he brought Mahatma Gandhi and Shaukat Ali in his village to strengthen the Non-cooperation Movement.

In 1928, he joined Bihar Kisan Sabha at Sonepur. Swami Sahajanand Saraswati and Dr. S.K. Sinha were leaders of Kishan Sabha. He also joined
Bharat Sabha founded by Shaheede Azam Bhagat Singh in same year.

In 1930, during Civil Disobedience Movement he was appointed as the director of Patna District to conduct the freedom struggle. Due to his active involvement in movement, an arrest warrant was issued against him in April, 1930 and he remained underground upto August month.

In 1930, he along with Socialist leaders from Bihar formed Bihar Socialist Party in Patna Camp Jail.

In 1934, he merged Bihar Socialist Party into All India Congress Socialist Party led by Acharya Narendra Deo and Jai Prakash Narayan.
